About the store

The Launceston store opened in 2002 and is situated in a prime location right in the centre of the high street. The store has a large catchment area and 65% of customers are over 60 years old.

There are 6 optical test rooms and 1 of these is a dual-purpose room which is used for hearcare services 99% of the time. The store underwent a refit in 2020 so still has the look and feel of a modern store. All of the test rooms are fitted with the latest clinical technology including OCT. They offer enhanced clinical services such as MECS, post cataract care, glaucoma monitoring, IOP refinement and the store is Platinum Employer accredited.

A team of 16 passionate and dedicated colleagues call this store home, including 3 DO’s, 3 lab assistants, 4 administrators/call centre operatives and 4 optoms.

You would be joining experienced Partners Rachel McClelland, Optometry Partner who has been with Specsavers for 17 years and Samantha Wall, Retail Partner who has been with Specsavers for 15 years. Both have been partners for 5 years.

There is an incredibly supportive store culture where further development is encouraged plus they have trained over 25 apprentices. The team are like a big family, very supportive of each other so it’s a lovely, positive environment to work in.

Location

Launceston, known as the gateway to Cornwall is a pretty market town near the Devon, Cornwall border. Renowned for its independent shops and cafes, medieval streets and Norman castle, it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular tourist destination.

Two major dual carriageways pass next to the town, the A30 and A38. Launceston is less than a 50 minute drive to both Exeter, to the East and Newquay to the South West. Plymouth is 25 miles to the South and you can reach the beautiful beaches of Bude on the West coast in under 35 minutes.

Requirements of the role

Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist with the drive, passion and willingness to maintain the customer-focused culture and the high standards of this successful store. As the new Optometry Partner, you’ll be able to provide a unique blend of customer care and professional excellence. You’ll be able to build a rapport with the existing team, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and possess an ability to build strong relationships within the local community.

About Joint Venture Partnership

Joint venture partnership is the secret to our success here at Specsavers, with every store locally owned and led by its directors. Owning, leading, and growing your very own business is considered by many to be the pinnacle of your career as an Optometrist. We believe that professional optics should be led by opticians just like you – this is your chance to become the leader you were born to be.
