About Great Southern - The Albany Health Campus -Emergency Department

Albany Health Campus is the Regional Resource Centre for the Great Southern. The Emergency Department sees approximately 33,000 attendances per annum and is staffed by a combination of FACEMs, Senior Medical Practitioners, Registrars, Residents, Interns and Nurse Practitioners. The department features 2 resuscitation bays, 8 treatment bays, an isolation room, a 4-bed observation ward and a fast-track area. The department sees a whole range of presentations including Major Trauma and Paediatrics. There is a High Dependency Unit staffed by Intensivists on a FIFO basis.

The new Hospital opened in May 2013 and provides modern facilities with a full range of laboratory and imaging services. The department is also supported by a multitude of visiting and other locally based specialists.

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant-Emergency Medicine who will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive clinical service in Emergency Medicine to Patients of WA Country Health Service- Great Southern and the leadership of the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive emergency services to patients of the Albany Health Campus. Promotes patient quality and safety within the emergency department. Provides leadership, management, training, supervision and education for Senior Medical Practitioners, Interns, Resident Medical Officers, and Registrars in collaboration with the Director of Medical Services.
