The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.
Hospital services include:

  • Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)
  • Maternal/Newborn Unit
  • Diabetes/Nutrition Counseling
  • Speech-Language
  • Physiotherapy
  • Breast Health Centre
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.
Hospital services include:
  • Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
  • Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
  • Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
  • Many community health related education programs
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

Position: Switchboard Registration Clerk

Region: Huron and Perth

Description: The Registration clerks work with a multidisciplinary team consisting of physicians, nurses, therapist and other clerical staff in a high traffic area. The clerk will be responsible for patient registration, following up on appointments, management of the central patient index database, directing patients to the correct departments and calling in staff for scheduling purposes. They are responsible for supporting several inter-professional teams working throughout the hospital and clinics. Registration clerks are also responsible for other duties as assigned including calling all CODES.
This is a temporary, part-time position that is anticipated to begin on June 3, 2024 and extend through March 31, 2025. The successful candidate will have the ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining confidentiality.
  • Operating the main phone and directing calls appropriately
  • Making calls to specialists, patients, other professionals and external support centers
  • Scanning in electronic health records charts, creating and maintaining patient charts in addition to sorting them numerically
  • Monitor fire alarm panels and security systems
  • Update the ministry portals as necessary
  • Check in patients for outpatient appointments
  • Admit and discharge emergency and inpatient patients.
  • Call in staff for departments and update Staffright applicably aswell as separate sign in sheets and deliver to departments on weekends.
  • Make arrangements for patient transfers and fax all paperwork.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and to successfully multitask.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Medical Terminology Course
  • 3 to 6 months experience working in a hospital registration setting
  • Moderate physical effort
  • High degree of mental effort

Salary: $26.47 - $31.13 per hour

Terms of Employment: Temporary, part-time
