The Facility: As part of the state wide health service you will be located in this modern 160 bed facility providing high quality health care to the local region. The hospital also offers services in medical, surgical and allied health specialties through inpatient and outpatient departments. The hospital has a strong relationship with the University of Tasmania's Rural Clinical School, and the secondary care facilities are both associated teaching hospitals with contemporary teaching environments.
The Role: Our client is looking for an Intensivist to become part of the five ICU Consultant team, providing high level inpatient and outreach critical care in the region. The successful applicant will be participating in the education and training of ICU trainees, junior doctors, medical students and ICU nursing staff.
The Department: The ICU is an 8 bed Level 2 ICU, providing critical care services. The general case mix of patients may include: trauma patients, sepsis and multi system failure, post-operative complications, unstable angina/AMI, cardiac failure / arrythmias and respiratory failure.The ICU is a CICM level 2 facility and accredited for basic, elective and foundation components of ICU training with ventilatory, circulatory and renal support.
The Requirements: To be eligible to apply for this position you should hold the FCICM or be an overseas Intensivist with experience of managing ICU's and have been assessed by the CICM as substantially comparable to an Australian trained Intensivist.
