This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile rail infrastructure project as part of a global team.The primary purpose is to contribute to the HSE team’s goals to influence positive attitudes and behaviours that foster a positive safety culture, ensure continuous improvement and good corporate governance.The secondary purpose is to support the leadership team to provide expert advice, support and coordination to maintain compliance with Workplace Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation and GBMS requirements.Accountabilities:Travel to permanent and project sites as a FIFO HSE professional to conduct activities including inductions, inspection and monitoring, audits, investigations, training and/ or awareness sessions.Conduct and evaluate audits of the HSE Management System and its implementation for compliance and continuous improvement to ensure it remains effective and current.Support the collection of HSE Management System performance data and reporting.Advise, influence and guide workers about Health, Safety, Wellness and Injury Management responsibility to undertake their roles more effectively.Implement or assist with the implementation of control measures to address HSE risk and ensure monitoring and review of control measures for effectiveness is undertaken.Facilitate the communication and consultation of necessary HSE information/ lessons learned, across all sites in the region.Required Skills/Knowledge:3 + years’ experience as a HSE Advisor in a high-risk industry (ideally rail).Ability to build HSE capability and safety leadership of managers, employees, and contractors.Ability to influence and drive safe behaviours and performance through building effective relationships and engagement.Good written and verbal communication skills.Well organised and able to multi-task.Resourceful, flexible, and self-motivated.Experience gained in a client facing role highly regarded.A sound knowledge of the relevant State and Codes of Practice is essential.Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety .At Hitachi Rail, we know that a diverse business is a sustainable business.
