NHS Grampian are delighted to offer the opportunity to join the Critical Care team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the role of Advanced Critical Care Practitioner Trainee.

We are seeking enthusiastic, committed and compassionate individuals to train as Advanced Critical Care Practitioners and work alongside our now well established, dynamic, friendly and supportive team.

The ACCP role requires extensive training as per the Faculty of Intensive Care’s curriculum for ACCP and the post holder will undertake a two year training programme which comprises masters’ level study through Queen Margaret University and work based learning within Critical Care.

The training is modular as follows.

1.    Clinical examination and history taking.2.    Work based learning.3.    Non-medical prescribing.

The ACCP works as part of the extended critical care team and alongside the medical team. They participate in the care of level 1-3 patients within critical care, performing clinical reviews, formulating clinical plans and undertaking specialist interventions.

Our critical care provision is set across two sites within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with even distribution of patient load.  We are invested in providing patient focused care to a high standard and the ACCP role has become vital to the provision of a flexible and sustainable workforce for critical care.

Applicants for this post will already have significant post registration experience and a high level of clinical skill. Applications will be welcomed from those allied health professional groups eligible to undertake non-medical prescribing under current legislation. Applicants will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and have a desire for new learning. The successful candidate will be tasked with pursuing excellence in relation to the four pillars of advanced practice.  Additionally the successful candidate will have the opportunity to innovate and develop what remains a relatively new service within critical care.
