The role:
You will maintain defined enterprise service levels by providing high quality technical expertise, support and administration whilst adhering to departmental standards, policies, procedures and ITSM processes.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Provide support and assistance in the clarification and prioritisation of tasks by ensuring assigned priorities are met in accordance with defined enterprise service levels;
  • Assist management in the decision making process by preparing technical reports, specifications and trend analysis within the unit;
  • Provide expertise to progress the installation and configuration of hardware, firmware and software as per departmental frameworks.
  • Manage ICT assets by ensuring changes and relevant information is recorded accurately.

Are you right for this role?

  • Demonstrated ability or the ability to quickly learn Service Now and ITIL Service Management processes, primarily incident/problem/test/change and configuration management. (SFIA: USUP Level 3, PBMG Level 4, CHMG Level 3, CFMG Level 3, TEST Level 2)
  • High level understanding and technical skills in one or more of the following: (SFIA: TECH Level 4, DBAD Level 4)
    • SQL and Query languages
    • Programming languages, especially Java
    • Unix/Solaris/RedHat System Administration and shell scripting
    • Database management and administration
    • HBCIS (Hospital Based Corporate Information System)
  • Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies without supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to methodically apply logical troubleshooting techniques to identify and rectify technology failures
  • Demonstrated willingness to develop a detailed understanding of how technologies work   
  • Proven ability to participate in a highly skilled technical team providing high-level technical direction, standardisation and support of enterprise infrastructure in a large customer focused organisation (SFIA Code: ARCH 5);
  • High level understanding and working knowledge of relevant technical domains (SFIA Code: TECH 4);
  • Proven experience in providing expertise and support on use of methods and tools (3rd level of support) within the technology sphere (SFIA Code: ARCH 5; METL 4; DESN 5);  
  • High level communication skills to enable effective interaction in individual and group situations  (NHS: Effective and Strategic Influencing).
  • Demonstrated skills in the analysis of IT system issues and the formulation, design and provision of appropriate solutions and improvements  (SFIA Code: DESN 5; ARCH 5; METL 5);
