The role:

The Director Governance and Policy has responsibility for:

  • Lead and direct the digital governance function, which actively works across Queensland Health and The Queensland Government Chief Customer and Digital Officer (QGCCDO) to assist key stakeholders to implement digital governance mechanisms and processes that align with Departmental and Government direction.
  • Lead and drive the development and implementation of governance, policy, standards and frameworks to support successful business outcomes across Queensland Health and Queensland Health partners in delivering healthcare.
  • Develop comprehensive strategy responses, briefs, submissions, presentations, reports and information papers to influence the development and adoption of sound digital governance, policy, standards and processes.
  • Provide critical support and high level expert advice to the Executive Director, Strategy, Architecture and Information Services, Executive Director Technology Services and Queensland Health senior management regarding digital governance and policy matters, and work with the Office of the Deputy Director-General and Senior Directors to provide policy and standards, that are consumable for other customers including Hospital and Health Services and the Department of Health.
  • Lead and manage a specialist team in eHealth portfolio governance and policy, developing a culture which recognises their leadership roles and assists Queensland Health to deliver successful outcomes.

Are you right for this role?

  • Ability to manage the provision of specialist knowledge and advice over a range of topics influencing departmental and government digital and eHealth strategic direction in relation to governance and policy.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to translate this analysis into pragmatic approaches to governance and policy creating real value for the business units delivering healthcare for Queenslanders.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams of professionals in the development and implementation of governance frameworks and policy agendas across large and complex organisations.
  • Proven effective oral and written communication skills as well as negotiation skills with the ability to initiate and influence relationships with and between stakeholders, including senior executives, facilitating open communication and collaborative working relationships.
