About the role 
Reporting to the Senior Director, Governance Risk & Compliance, the Director Sustaining Capital Program will lead the system planning for lifecycle replacement, utilisation, and disposal of assets. In this role you will implement whole of life asset management principles and assessment rigour to the application of sustaining capital funds to ensure effective system wide approach is applied and provide specialist advice to key stakeholders for all sustaining capital matters. 

The successful person
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:
•    High level project management skills in delivery of state-wide programs within budget, and in accordance with departmental policy, whole-of-government requirements, and in alignment with the values of the Queensland Public Service.
•    Ability to identify, examine, and critically interpret complex information and provide strategic solutions relating to program administration of sustaining capital and asset management.
•    Highly developed and demonstrated negotiation, consultative, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish, develop and maintain business relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders within the Department, HHSs, non-government agencies and staff.
•    Highly desired, a tertiary qualification or demonstrated relevant experience in any of the following disciplines: facilities management, risk management, finance, or project management. 
•    Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.

The Sustaining Capital team within HCD forms part of the Operations division. The team manages the capital investment necessary to maintain operations including replacing and refurbishing assets that are held within Queensland Hospital and Health Services and ensures the Sustaining Capital Program is managed within budget in accordance with governance arrangements established under whole of government requirements.
