Experienced Maternal and Child Health Nurses

About the role

Our team of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurses provide our Clients’ MCH Service a range of free support for all families in the Geelong region. Promoting optimal child health in children under 6 years of age through developmental assessment, monitoring health and providing an advisory, supportive, and educative primary health service to their families and care givers.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide a Maternal and Child health service delivered within the service program guidelines and standards
  • Commitment to the provision of a quality service and continuous improvement
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills
  • Meet all requirements in respect to service agreements and relevant legislation
  • Contribute to the overall development of the service by displaying teamwork
  • Ensure the work practices reflect the organisational values and expected behaviours
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to the position
  • Carry out other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in a community focused environment
  • Knowledge and skills to deliver the Victorian Maternal & Child Health program to the diverse range of families within the municipality
  • Well-developed communication skills including interpersonal and written skills
  • General computer literacy and specific knowledge of CDIS MCH systems

Desirable

  • Accredited lactation qualification or demonstrated knowledge and experience in supporting breast feeding women
  • Accreditation as a nurse immuniser or demonstrated knowledge of childhood immunisation
  • Ability to be available for same day shifts would be advantageous
  • Enhanced Maternal and Child Health experience would be advantageous

Qualifications

  • Current practicing certificate as a Registered Nurse Division One with additional qualifications of Midwifery and Maternal & Child Health endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence and a motor vehicle and comprehensive insurance
  • Current Working with Children check
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check

We require all candidates to have had three doses of covid 19 vaccination (Essential for work in public health services)
