Description

The CSROT isprimarily focused on assessing and treating patients who have experienced a stroke within the last year to either return to or successfully remain at home. The CSROT plans and implements occupational therapy assessments and interventions for individuals either in hospital or at a patient’s home, and coordinates home visits, including arranging for any equipment required, with the patient and or family and with other team members.

Qualifications

  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of OT of Ontario
  • Must be a graduate of a certified and accredited University with a Bachelor or Master’s degree in OT
  • Authorizer status for ADP mobility devices required
  • Previous experience in physical medicine preferred
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Current certification in BCLS and demonstrated ongoing competence through annual re-certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and Windows-based software programs/keyboarding skills
  • Familiarity with all Occupational Therapy equipment and supplies, and ability to coordinate management and maintenance of Occupational therapy equipment and supplies
  • Independent clinical problem-solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize work within time constraints, and demonstrated sound judgment, and initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform physical Medicine Occupational Therapy assessments and analyses, and to coordinate implementation of prioritized OT interventions utilizing available supports including family, staff and students
  • Must demonstrate a tactful, empathetic, and caring patient approach, and encourage independence
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize duties/projects, multi-task, and work independently in a fast-paced environment with constant demands
  • Physically capable of frequent bending, stretching, and lifting and of assisting heavy-needs patients with bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, and exercise program. Must be able to stand and walk the major portion of the day
  • Demonstrated record of good performance, punctuality and reliable attendance record
  • Class G drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle with and ability to travel to various locations within catchment area
