Description

The LWDH Community Stroke Rehabilitation (CSR) Rehabilitation Technician (RT) will support the CSR Occupational Therapist (OT) through the provision of home-based rehabilitation interventions as assigned by the CSROT to patients who have experienced a stroke within the last year and/or have related chronic and complex diseases affecting their ability to independently and successfully remain in their own home.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PT/OT/Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma program, equivalent and/or combination of experience may be considered
  • Experience in Rehabilitation, clinical setting preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge, familiarity and proficiency with PT/OT/SLP current assessment and intervention techniques, including anatomy and pathophysiology, therapeutic outcome measures and therapeutic equipment and modalities
  • Familiarity with relevant Rehabilitation College Guidelines for assistants and demonstrated ability to comply with College Standards for assistants
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and windows-based software programs/keyboarding skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Current Certification in BCLS and demonstrated ongoing competence through annual re-certification
  • Familiarity with all Rehabilitation equipment and supplies
  • Ability to independently manage and maintain Rehabilitation equipment inventory
  • Independent clinical problem solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize work within time constraints, and demonstrated sound judgment, and initiative
  • Physically capable of frequent bending, stretching, and lifting and of assisting heavy-needs patients with bed mobility, transfers, ambulation and exercise program. Must be able to stand and walk the major portion of the day.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance record
  • Class G drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle with and ability to travel to various locations within catchment area
  • Must demonstrate a tactful, empathetic, and caring patient approach, and encourage independence
