Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position OverviewUnder the general director of the Manager or delegate, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the incumbent is responsible for the efficient and timely scheduling of Cardiac procedures. The incumbent will receive requisitions, enter patient data into applicable information systems and obtain direction from appropriate individual (technologist, nurse or physician) regarding instructions for scheduling appointments and convey information to patient/families verbally, by telephone or in writing as directed.
The incumbent prepares the department schedules/slates for the following day, verifying patient names and arrival times and ensuring that all the patient appointments are complete. Other clerical duties may include maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, and updating patient information. Duties may include acting as receptionist for the area, responding to inquiries from patients, greeting and directing patients and visitors, receiving incoming calls and relaying messages to the appropriate individuals and escorting patients to another area of the program or arranging for inpatient transportation as needed.
