The Surgical Day Case Unit and Common Admissions Lounge is a dynamic and efficient ward which has opportunities for development in a career pathway in a variety of specialities within the surgical and anaesthetic speciality.
We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic, caring and compassionate staff nurse who wants the challenge of delivering high quality, patient-centred care in a busy and dynamic ward, and has the quality attributes to adapt to the diversity of the role. Working on a busy surgical ward you will gain wide exposure to all surgical specialties whilst gaining competency in many clinical skills.
Previous surgical experience is not required as we offer a supportive and tailored development programme with clinical education and a supernumerary period.
We operate a 12.5 hour shift pattern which will include days and some weekend and night shifts.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
