Curo, a leading Housing Association in Bath, is seeking a committed individual to take on the position of Support Worker, to join the Independent Living Service team, which forms part of the care and support element within Curo.

This role is an FTC ending March 2025, however for the right candidate we hope to make this permanent role after the contract finishes.

The Independent Living Service

  • The Independent Living Service (ILS) delivers person centered support to individuals who reside in the B&NES, Bristol, South Glos and North Somerset area.
  • Our Independent Living Support Workers work with people to identify support needs and establish a bespoke plan to support people to continue living independently in their own home and communities.
  • The level of support can range from the installation of a personal alarm system for added safety, right through to weekly visits where we can seek to maximise income, arrange aids and adaptations, support with shopping, help plan medical appointments and much more.

What you'll be doing

As a support worker within the Independent Living Service, no two days are ever the same, primarily you will be:

  • Working with people to support them live independently within their own homes.
  • Managing your own customer case load, building effective rapport and trust, allowing you to fully understand the needs of your customers.
  • Youll work with diverse partner agencies to identify appropriate support to enable customers to successfully live independently.

More about you

The successful Support Worker will ideally have the skills and background listed below:

  • We are looking for proactive and enthusiastic people with an approachable personality these are the key core traits a successful Support Worker require.
  • You will be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • Youll be comfortable with dealing with challenging conversations, remaining confident and firm, whilst being respectful and considerate.
  • Youll have the skills to listen to and recognise what it is that our customers really want and be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of ICT Software such as Outlook and Microsoft Office. Experience of working with mobile Apps is desirable.
  • You will be able to work effectively, without judgement, but with a strong sense of professional boundaries.
  • You will understand the need for support planning, risk assessment and inspiring customers to recognise and achieve their goals.
  • Youll have good resilience and an understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable adults living in the wider community.
  • This role will involve travel throughout B&NES predominantly but may include Bristol and North Somerset for annual leave cover. This means a driving license, access to transport with business insurance and ability to transport customers is essential.

You will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check for this role which we will do for you when you start.
