Job Description

The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney. 
Project scope includes:

• Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
• Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
• Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

In line with the above, ACCIONA are now looking for an Occupational Hygienist to join the Safety Team. Reporting to the Safety Assurance Manager at our Project Main office in North Sydney, this role will be required to… 
Specific Tasks Include

• Present a professional and ethical image to clients, subcontractors, consultants and subordinates.
• Implement and maintain occupational hygiene processes and procedures in line with the regulatory and company requirements.
• Provide specialist advice and support to key stakeholders on health and hygiene concerns. This may include hazard identification, investigations, hazard evaluation and control strategies.
• Educate, communicate and engage with company leaders and operational personnel on health hazard management.
• Participate in internal and external audits in compliance with regulations and company requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications and Experience

• A Degree qualification in Occupational Hygiene or related Science.
• Professional grade membership with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (minimum provisional member).
• Experience across a broad range of occupational hygiene disciplines within the construction industry with tunnel experience highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with strong communication, engagement and influencing skills.
