We are looking for ER and IMED vet nurses interested in joining us on a full-time, part-time or casual basis. We would expect all our eligible candidates to have the ability to provide the gold standard level client and patient care we are widely recognised for.

We are a privately owned emergency and specialist veterinary hospital. Our services provide a 24-hour, Advanced Treatment Centre outfitted with brand-new, world-class, ‘cutting-edge’ technology and equipment (Philips EPIQ Elite). Since opening in June 2020, our business has grown from 35 employees to +200 dedicated and passionate veterinary professionals.About You:You will have an open mind, be adaptable, willing to learn, be a team-player and have great communication skills. Responsibilities:• Provide gold standard care for all inpatients• Administering of treatments including medications• Work closely with ER vets to deliver treatment plans• Diagnostic testing including X-Rays, Blood tests• Maintain clear communication between clients, vets and nurses• Could prioritise in emergency situations• Maintain accurate and up to date records on SmartFlow and EzyVet• Emergency triage to identify which patient should be seen first

Duties and Activities:• Able to collect vitals• Recognise patient trends and act on them when needed and/or alert case owner• Perform nurse physical examinations• Organise and assist in emergency procedures• Be able to complete general husbandry and nursing duties• Maintain and manage patient drains, urinary catheters, central lines• Be an advocate for your patient needs by communicating regularly and working closely with

• Placing intravenous and arterial catheters• Taking jugular blood samples• Using in house biochemistry, hematology, coagulation, and blood gas machines• Assist with imaging including X-Rays, Ultrasounds, CT, and MRI• Use Multiparameter monitors to assess patient with ECG, ETC02, BP, SPO2 and temperature• Prepare blood/urine slides• Run urinalysis and faecal tests

• Respond promptly to any critical patients that may arrive• Provide first aid and supportive care to a variety of emergencies such as snake bites, ticks, hit by car,

heat stroke and more• Show excellent time management skills to efficiently sort through which patients need to be seen first • Prioritise all patient care in order of urgency

Maintain Clear Communication Channels Between Clients, ER Veterinarians and Other InternalDepartments• A desire to work closely with our patients throughout their entire VSOS journey and build a rapport

with their fabulous owners.• Assisting with the admission and discharge process of patients• Working and communicating directly with Specialists and Emergency Veterinarians to ensure that

patients, clients, and peers are updated on all day-to-day activities• Communicate clearly with clients including providing advice, giving updates, answering questions, and

providing support when clients are concerned about the status of their pet.

Maintain Accurate and Up To Date Records On Smartflow and Ezyvet• Updating patient care in a timely manner on Smartflow• Documenting all patient information in ezyVet and Smartflow including but not limited to

anaesthetics, procedures, pathology results, TPRs and patient historyExperience and Qualifications:

• A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing is essential with a minimum of 2 years in-hospital experience (Can be GP)

• Clinically sound veterinary nursing skills to fulfil the above listed duties• Experience in working in an emergency and/or ICU setting, preferred but not required.• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)• Previous experience using EzyVet or SmartFlow is preferred but not essential.
