Workplace Health & Safety Advisor

The Position

This WHS Advisor opportunity is with one of our clients in the NFP space, who operate in the community services and support sector. In this role, you will be working alongside the WHS Manager and working in a team of 4. You will be best suited for this role if you love a fast-paced environment and are prepared to hit the ground running. You will be instrumental in ensuring the effective implementation, review, and continuous coordination of the organization's WHS framework. As well as ensuring the business achieves their operational objectives and support the coordination of the WHS risk management processes. You will be a trusted advisor who will provide support and guidance to stakeholders across the business. To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Workplace, Health and Safety professional, with a passion for care and who enjoys working in a team environment. Ideal opportunity for a WHS Officer or Coordinator looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of appropriate safety standards, along with researching and interpretation of updates and introduction of Work Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and practices;
  • Identifying, developing, and implementing new WHS policies, practices, and programs;
  • Collaborating with the WHS Manager and Injury Manager Advisor to identify incident trends, reduce areas of risk and develop return to work and wellness activities;
  • General WHS duties such as reporting, incident investigations, trend management, risk assessments, workplace site inspections, developing safety procedures, and hazard management;
  • Assist and support the implementation of projects from the WHS Manager.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (minimum Certificate IV) or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring WHS policies, procedures, and safe systems of work;
  • Demonstrated experience in the Not-for-Profit, aged care, or similar sector will come highly regarded;
  • Obtain or willing to obtain a Blue and Yellow Card;
  • Must have at least 2 COVID vaccination doses;
  • Proven ability to provide sound advice and work in consultation with stakeholders on WHS matters.
