The role:
Reporting to the Manager, you will lead and manage resources at an operational level and provide high level ICT technical direction and support for the operation of enterprise systems within a large and complex site to ensure defined service levels are met efficiently and effectively.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and coordinate diverse technical resources by providing guidance, advice and direction to meet and maintain defined service levels and execute work requests for server, storage and associated infrastructure.  This infrastructure provides services such as network file services, access, DHCP and messaging
  • Provide high level ICT technical expertise, support and administration by complying with departmental standards, policies, procedures and ITSM processes
  • Promote best practice for IT Service Management by developing and implementing ITIL based practices and processes
  • Assist management's decision making by researching and analysing trends and issues to establish strategies to maximise benefits from information resources and technology and prepare reports on these findings as required
  • Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with clients in providing quality information service delivery
  • Manage the effective administration of the work unit and report, document and develop recommendations regarding resource capacity, capability and planning to the Manager.

The successful person:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience:

  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people to make decisions.
  • High level of competency in the support of information systems, technical problem solving, the application of professional judgement and the formulation of technical solutions.
  • ICT leadership and management skills, including an ability to manage change and generate a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote ITIL Service Management processes (primarily incident / problem / change / configuration management).
  • Well developed management skills and knowledge including high level ability in the areas of planning, managing resources, budget preparation and management.
  • Technical competency in the operational management of servers and storage using the following (or similar) technologies:
    • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
    • Novell Open Enterprise Server 2
    • Windows Server 2012R2
    • VMware ESX 6.5 clustered virtual environments
    • Windows System Centre Configuration Manager 2012 R2 software and operating system deployment
    • Novell eDirectory
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • EMC VNX series SAN
    • Dell and HP server grade hardware
    • IBM Tivoli enterprise backup system

Able to utilise extensive experience in the support of information systems, you will demonstrate skills in technical problem solving, the application of professional judgement, and will be confident in forming and implementing technical solutions to complex problems. An inherent knowledge and understanding of the ITIL frameworks, you will be experienced in developing, implementing, and promoting ITIL processes to encourage continuous improvement.
