The role:

This role will analyse existing vendor performance/value to identify areas of potential improvement and develop plans, working closely with business leaders, to address performance issues and optimise value delivery.

The Procurement team also supports the negotiation and finalisation of contract terms, co-ordinates the management of vendor performance to ensure that procured benefits are delivered and supports dispute escalation and resolution processes.

The Director Contracts and Procurement has responsibility for:

  • Developing a strong team culture that supports the success of the team and empowers the individuals within it to perform to their full potential.
  • Building a competent team with the required capability, implement a framework for continuous development that will enable improved performance.
  • Encouraging and recognise the performance of staff, ensuring that performance appraisal and training and development plans are in place.
  • Promoteing and fostering professional development through coaching, mentoring and providing opportunities to advance leadership and management skills, technical expertise and interpersonal skills, leading by example in the pursuit of continuous learning and quality improvements.
  • Leading the development and implementation of overarching eHealth procurement strategies and plans that will continually increase value for money and improve health care services. Conduct regular strategic vendor assessments and ensure that robust vendor engagement and management arrangements are in place.

Are you right for this role?

  • While not mandatory, a tertiary or post graduate qualification in procurement and/or relevant professional memberships, are highly desirable.
  • Sophisticated consulting and communications skills which are conducive to the establishment and maintenance of business partnerships and positively influencing others in a significant environment of organisational transformation and performance accountability.
  • Highly developed leadership and managerial proficiency, including the ability to develop a high performing team, and to apply resource management skills to ensure resources are optimally allocated in meeting defined goals.
  • A proven track record and a strongly held conviction and energy for making significant and positive contributions to organisational change and transformation, including having executive thinking ability, and capacity to deal with abstract and complex organisational issues.
  • Knowledge of good business management practices and public sector structures, processes and policies.
