About the role

This position supports managing the team by coordinating cleaning, porterage, waste, the mortuary and linen services to meet organisational goals. This position liaises with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve goals.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Exercise good communication and interpersonal skills where client liaison and supervisory responsibilities apply.
  • Undertake cleaning audits (TOPCAT) to ensure cleaning standard compliance. If deficiencies are found, communicate and negotiate to address those issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage CARPS to ensure staff complete tasks to the standards required and within agreed designated timeframes and resources.
  • Deliver training (structured and on-the-job) as required to develop Operational Services staff competencies to complete tasks and assist to identify training needs.
  • Build a positive team environment through collaboration with nursing, medical and operational staff.
  • Actively contribute to developing a culture of patient first ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Support in effective recruitment, payroll, supervision and development of subordinate staff and enabling them to competently carry out their role.
  • Support staffing procedures to ensure staffing resources are used efficiently through approving rostering and allocation processes and, oversee and promote absenteeism management within the department including Work Cover processes and issues.
  • Use appropriate communication strategies for negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their co-workers, clients and visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in supervising and providing training and support to the Operational Services team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in Operational Services and in the use of appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • High level organisational skills with an ability to utilise problem solving strategies, prioritise and allocate tasks.
  • High level interpersonal skills with ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills including the ability to negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
