Tell me more...The Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) Midwifery Group Practice is a Registered Midwife who provides advanced management, coordination of clinical practice and professional midwifery leadership, supporting operation and strategic direction in a specific area of practice supporting the general function of the organisation through the application of specialist knowledge, best practice, leadership, governance, quality activities and change management.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Provide midwifery leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate the Cooktown Maternity service to achieve organisational goals.
  • Accountable for providing sound professional leadership in dealing with significant issues related to assessment, planning, review, evaluation, and coordination of service programs in a defined practice area for groups and individuals with diverse requirements.
  • Accountable for own decisions, actions, behaviours, and standards including monitoring and evaluating activities delegated to others.
  • Develop and implement management support for change processes, risk management practices and service improvement activities.

  • May need to participate in clinical care on an emergent basis to meet organisational need and/or in other clinical areas.
