Tell me more...The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides leadership and support to other nursing staff and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait healthcare workers and is responsible for implementing plans related to safe, consumer focussed ophthalmic care in collaboration with the Manager of the Maternal and Health Program and relevant others.

  • Fosters a skills development program for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers wishing to gain experience in eye health.
  • Initiate and participate in research activities designed to improve patient outcomes.
  • High level professional functioning that is flexible, innovative, and includes effective communication.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered nurse and current practising certificate is mandatory.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a patient retrieval vehicle (4WD) which requires a C Class Drivers Licence. An appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • Travel across the TCHHS will be a requirement of this position in commercial and/or light aircraft, 4WD vehicles and ferries.
