Tell me more...The Advanced Health Worker is an integral part of the TB team and will assist clinicians to better understand and respond to client's concerns, and help clients and community understand clinical processes, illness, and treatment. The Advanced Health Worker will be a cultural broker for the Torres and Cape TB Control Unit and assist in the delivery of culturally appropriate, safe, comprehensive, and cost-effective TB services to ensure objectives are achieved.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ability to apply this understanding into the provision of health care delivery.
  • Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills in client liaison advocacy and team work and will possess a well-developed knowledge and skill base in TB control and a capacity for self-directed application of primary health care service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills obtained from Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.

Requirements for the role:

  • Possession of a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manger, prior to commencement of duties.
  • To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
