Unit Description:
The Cardiology Department at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is a major tertiary and quaternary referral centre. It has national and international recognition as a leading clinical and research Arrhythmia centre. The Department also has major strengths in interventional coronary, structural and congenital cardiology and cardiac genetics. It provides the state-wide complex lead extraction service. The position also involves experience with structural congenital and non-congenital interventions, including transcatheter aortic replacement, percutaneous mitral valve repair, PFO, ASD, and PDA closure and LAA occlusion. Fellows participate in the after-hours roster for urgent PCIs. The program also provides opportunities to participate in teaching and clinical research projects. Over the 12 months of the program, fellows can expect to perform at least 400 interventional procedures.
