About us:

Emerald Hospital provides a range of hospital and visiting specialist services to the Emerald and Central Highlands region. Our vision, in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/cq/destination-2030 ) is for Emerald Hospital to be the Central Highlands hub for emergency, maternity, diagnostic and some surgical services. We will invest in Telehealth technology to provide local access to services wherever possible.

The population of the surrounding community is approximately 28,000 with 15,000 at Emerald. There are two small hospitals within 100kms, located at Blackwater and Springsure. Emerald Hospital is a 28 bed facility, has two operating theatres and approximately 160 staff delivering services across acute, community and primary care.

About the role:

Social Workers recognise the impact of the socioeconomic, cultural, psychological and political determinants on a person's health and overall wellbeing. Social work focuses on enhancing a person's social and emotional functioning through targeted specialised interventions and mobilising services and supports.

The Social Worker forms an integral part of the Central Highlands Health Service team, supporting patients through hospital admission, recovery following discharge or when accessing other specialist outpatient services.

About you:

  • Possession of a Qualification degree in Social Work from a recognised tertiary institution and eligibility for professional membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Overseas applicants must obtain a letter from the AASW confirming eligibility for professional membership and provide a copy with their position application.
  • Demonstrated skill, knowledge and expertise in social work practice, theoretical perspectives, social systems, legislation and policies.
  • Ability to set realistic work goals, establish work priorities and work autonomously to deliver timely and efficient routine Social Work services.

 Upcoming graduates awaiting conferral of qualifications and registration will be considered for this role.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $128,706 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A hourly rate between $42.40 - $56.89 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
