The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. The facilitycompletes approximately 5,800 cases/year with 800 deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.Services:surgical servicesinternal medicine services (including cardiology and respirology)obstetricspediatricspsychiatry/mental health and addiction servicesResponsibilitieswork a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients within Western Zonesurgical services covered at VRH include: general surgery, orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, ENT (including pediatric inpatients)special interest in intensive care and/or pain management would be assetsparticipating in call shiftsprovide support to the Western Zone if required, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coveragebe responsible to the Zone Anesthesia Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practiceoperate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health AuthorityExpected Hoursfull-timeequal participation in 1:10 on-call schedule (on-call stipend available)Located in beautiful Annapolis Valley, Kentville is near several award-winning wineries, the Minas Basin - which boasts some of the highest tides in the world - and Acadia University .
