Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.

The Role

The Clinical Team Leader provides first line leadership for the multi-disciplinary team working in the Galiwin’ku primary health care clinic in relation to assessment, planning, review, evaluation, and coordination of service delivery. This position works together with the Senior Aboriginal Health- Practitioner Co-team lead to further develop a collaborative and culturally responsive co leadership model that provides support and two- way mentorship.

The position will provide high level advice, leadership and coordination and ensure an integrated approach to the delivery of comprehensive Primary Health Care across all service delivery points within the service.

  • Ability to salary package up to $15,900 per annum plus a further $2,650 per annum on Meals and Entertainment
  • Three return airfares from Gaḻiwin’ku to either Darwin or an alternative destination that incurs a cost equivalent to or less than a return airfare to Darwin.

The Clinical Team Leader will be responsible to lead members of the Clinical team to further develop a collaborative and culturally responsive model that provides support and mentorship for all team members. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Remote Area Nurse and current registration by APHRA and have an understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination & understanding of the issues faced by Yolngu people living in remote settings.
