The Role
Directorate Health Safety Environment, within the Capability Sustainment and Acquisition Group have vacanices within their Hazard Management and WHS Culture and Policy teams.

If you answered 'yes', this may be the role you are looking for.
As an APS6 Work Health and Safety Officer you will undertake the following duties (note: not all duties are applicable to both positions): 
  • Accountable for research and analysis activities to identify and address work health and safety (WHS) risks to capability.
  • Develop and implement WHS programs.
  • Contribute to implementation, review and continuous improvement of WHS management systems, processes and guidance in accordance with legislation and Defence policies and procedures.
  • Provide advice on the application of WHS legislation and Defence policies and procedures.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts on complex WHS issues and legislative requirements.
  • Resolve problems using professional expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for WHS activities.

These positions will require attendance onsite as well as options for flexible working arrangements. These options will be discussed with suitable candidates.

The Directorate of Health Safety and Environment (DHSE) is part of Business Operations under the Group Business Management Division, Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). CASG is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all its people which comprises of Australian Defence Force members, Australian Public Service employees and contractor workforce, while delivering on capability. DHSE supports this through the delivery of CASG health, safety and environment policy, tools and assurance. 
DHSE is also responsible for CASG’s safety and environmental management systems CASsafe and CASenv; and delivers key initiatives and programs assisting to support CASG Business Units meeting their work health safety and environment responsibilities.
