Safety Specialist

Headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., Tidewater Canada (TWC), is the West Coast’s largest bulk transporter of refined petroleum products. Our services include bulk fuel transportation, specialty towing and marine logistics.


We are currently seeking a QHSSE Specialist who will be responsible for maintaining effective quality, health, safety, security, and environmental programs that comply with federal, provincial, local, and international regulations as required. This position plays a key role in the administrative function of the QHSSE department and responsibilities will include the upkeep of QHSSE data, the completion and submission of forms and the preparation and delivery of safety related reports, presentations and communications. Reporting to the Manager, QHSSE / DPA, the QHSSE Specialist will assist with incident investigations/reporting and with the identification and implementation of QHSSE departmental initiatives and programs in the pursuit of a values-based safety culture and incident-free operations to achieve Target Zero. Responsibilities will also include attendance during field operations to confirm that safe working practices and procedures are being followed, assisting with vessel and company drills/exercises, conducting risk and job hazard assessments and new employee and contractor safety orientations. The QHSSE Specialist will also be responsible for organizing and documenting the Management of Change process and the Quarterly Management Review meetings.


A degree, certificate, diploma or post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety with a minimum of 3 years experience directly related to health, safety and environmental responsibility in the marine transportation or a similar industry is preferred. Candidates for this position must be available on an on-call basis after regular working hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency response and must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport with no travel restrictions.
