The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Social Worker (Mental Health - Orchid Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide an efficient and responsive mental health Social Work service within identified models of care and in accordance with professional, ethical and National Mental Health standards
  • Utilise knowledge of Social Work theories and frameworks in understanding the impact of the environment and culture on the development of mental illness
  • Undertake routine psychosocial assessments to support diagnosis, treatment, education and case management
  • Apply professional judgement to facilitate effective clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence across multiple clinical areas

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A tertiary degree in Social Work
  • Eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Driver licence
  • Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent part time, temporary part time (two positions, 38 hrs p.f)
  • Base salary ranging from $38.70 - $56.89 per hour
