Job Description

With two intakes per year the ACO facilitates applications from all Australian and New Zealand university graduates!

About the position

ACO graduates undertake a 2 year program where they experience a unique clinical experience across our Carlton and Metro locations with the option to continue as a staff optometrist at the end of the program.

Commencing at our 25 room Carlton clinic, you will have unparalleled access to peer feedback and assistance from experienced optometrists, many of whom were once part of our graduate program themselves. All graduate optometrists will also experience how a smaller clinic runs, working at our metropolitan clinics. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore more advanced clinical practice while working across our paediatric, contact lenses and ocular disease services.

You will have access to a wide range of state-of-the-art ophthalmic technology, including wave front aberrometry, anterior and posterior OCT, confocal ophthalmoscopy, wide field fundus photography, and electrodiagnotics. Our specialty clinics will also help you to continue to develop your skills as an optometrist including our dedicated Paediatrics clinic, Specialist Contact Lenses, Glaucoma Clinic, and Dry Eye.

  • Two-year appointment to work as a full time optometrist.
  • Work nine day fortnights (usual Clinic hours are 8.30 am to 5.45 pm weekdays and Saturday).
  • Undertake clinical duties in ACO metropolitan, outreach and specialist clinics.

We offer:

  • Opportunities for continuous learning.
  • Not-For-Profit salary packaging benefits increasing you take home pay.
  • A wide range of state-of-the-art ophthalmic technology.
  • No late nights, Sundays, or public holidays.
