About the Role

The Practice Development Nurse (PDN) – Cancer Services, is responsible for supporting the professional development of all levels of nursing staff, including undergraduates, graduates, pathway to speciality practice participants and postgraduate nursing students, within their allocated area.
Their primary role is to ensure best practice by providing ongoing education and support for all staff with particular focus on the advancement of knowledge, skills and training with relevance to the cancer services setting. This will be achieved by implementing clinically based education using the principles of Evidenced Based Practice to improve the delivery of nursing care. Furthermore, they will be responsible for their own professional development in order to maintain expert clinical skills and advanced knowledge.

This position will primarily be based at St Vincent’s campus in Fitzroy with the expectation of travel to other campuses and health services as required.

Classifications for this position will range will be YZ7 ($113,646.00 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution

  • Current Nursing Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.

  • Degree in General Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery board of Australia. 

  • Postgraduate Qualifications in relevant nursing speciality (Cancer Care), preferably a Masters in Advanced Nursing or working towards, is desirable.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Education, Clinical Supervision or similar (or working towards), is desirable 

  • Minimum 5 years nursing experience in cancer services (oncology and/or haematology)

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
