The Position


As a Health and Safety Consultant with Finch, you will assist in building our core health and safety competencies across multiple sectors. These sectors may vary from the construction, manufacturing, and food and drink industries to agriculture and transport. You will deliver new business streams and client services work collaboratively with your colleagues and share client relationships.


The successful candidate will be invited to join our 6-month onboarding programme, where you will learn the full Finch process: from how enquiries are dealt with initially to client visits, report writing, and follow-up. You will have the support of a buddy and also a mentor to guide you through the process.


Profile


We are looking for an engaging Health and Safety Consultant to join our community, based in the UK. We are particularly looking for a consultant with a strong ability to apply the relevant legislation and guidance from first principles in what could be a variety of familiar and unfamiliar workplace situations. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, assisting with building our core competencies across multiple sectors. The main responsibilities for this role will be to provide guidance on compliance with health and safety legislation and guidance to colleagues and clients and, following training to provide expert witness services to the court.


Key requirements


  • Degree or similar qualification in health and safety.
  • Chartership would be preferable, but we will be happy to assist with this for the right person.
  • Have a demonstrably in-depth and expert knowledge of the application of health and safety legislation and guidance across a wide range of industries.
  • Have a demonstrable ability to and examples of using that depth and knowledge in a pragmatic manner and in novel and challenging circumstances.
  • An in depth knowledge of all or some of the following: work at height, workplace transport, load security, workplace plant safety, CDM regulations and the role of duty holders, agricultural safety, COMAH regulations, and process safety.
  • Have a strong ability to attract and develop new clients.
  • Have a strong ability to develop new work in specialist areas.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of H&S Law and regulatory guidance, its use, and application.
  • Develop, support, and enhance the growth of the health and safety capability within Finch.
