Principal Systemic Investigations Officer - Lead

The Principal Systemic Investigations Lead (PSIL) is responsible for the coordination and management of:

  • The Systemic Investigation team
  • Investigations relating to systemic issues affecting the safety and quality of healthcare in Queensland, including monitoring the implementation of the Health Ombudsman recommendations arising from systemic investigations
  • Investigations into protracted clinical practitioner complaints
  • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) assurance activities
  • Strategic intelligence functions in relation to potential systemic health care issues.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery/coordination of high-quality investigations (systemic and protracted clinical practitioner) in line with organisation policies, procedures, and legislation, including prioritisation of caseloads to achieve strict deadlines in a complex and sensitive environment and provide technical supervision and guidance to the team.
  • Lead the gathering of strategic intelligence using a variety of internal and external intelligence data sources to identify potential systemic healthcare issues for investigation.
  • Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders and develop high-level and effective relationships to support systemic investigations processes, enhance service delivery and the office's relationship within the wider healthcare setting.
  • Oversee and actively engage in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems to support the strategic direction of the systemic team and the investigations division including developing team members' systemic investigation expertise.
  • Coordinate the provision of high-level advice and assistance to the Health Ombudsman in conducting inquiries undertaken under part 12 of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013.
