A Casual Pool works by applications being accepted on a continuing basis for a period of 12 months. A selection panel will regularly review and assess applications, and keep you informed during the process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with the provision of professional high quality patient care at Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service.
  • Maintaining cooperative and productive working relationships with all members of the health care team, you will implement appropriate nursing care and assist with general and specialised procedures from nursing care plans. 
  • Plan and prioritise your own work program to achieve defined outcomes and exercise judgment when it is required to solve problems arising in your work area.
  • Provide verbal and documented information within your scope of practice to patients, other health care team members, and members of the public, and contribute to your professional expertise by maintaining ongoing personal professional development and continuing education through a portfolio of post-enrolment learning.
  • Work with the aged, children, youth, women and their families where there are multiple complexities and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Recognise and respond to clinical deterioration or other incidents and escalating appropriately
  • Provide evidenced based care, developing clinical skills while keeping up to date with professional standards of practice and quality management initiatives consistent with organisational policies

About You

  • Enrolled as an Enrolled Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you will hold a current practising certificate.
  • A team player able to work cohesively within a multidisciplinary environment,
  • you will have experience, within the boundaries of your education and skill preparation, in the provision of nursing and or midwifery care in the healthcare setting in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • You will have the ability to engage with a broad range of people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures, reflecting your high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times, you will have sound knowledge and understanding the role of the Enrolled Nurse within the health care setting.
