Package valued in excess of $198,252 including:

· Base salary of $122,831 to $143,301 per annum

· Employer contribution to superannuation at 16% of base salary

The Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is currently seeking motivated, experienced and suitably qualified persons to join our team as the Oral Health Therapist/Hygienist within the Indian Ocean Territories Health Service (IOTHS) on Christmas Island.

The IOTHS delivers a primary and acute health care service in two of Australia’s most remote and most spectacular settings - Christmas Island (CI) and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI). The IOTHS includes a 24 hour eight bed hospital and primary care facility on CI and clinics on Home and West Islands in the CKI. The IOTHS is committed to “Working with our communities to keep us healthy for the whole of our lives”.

The key responsibilities of the Oral Health Therapist/Hygienist are to provide high quality and effective oral health treatment and oral health promotion that supports best practice and positive patient outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will have five years demonstrated experience working as an Oral Health Therapist or Dental Therapist, knowledge of and experience in, health promotion and education with the application of primary health care principles, high level interpersonal and well developed communication skills.

Further the candidate will have the demonstrated ability to lead and manage small teams, identify, develop and lead opportunities for improvement in clinical practice and ongoing quality improvement activities, and have an understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, infection Control polices and Work, Health and Safety within a clinical practice.

A demonstrated ability to work effectively with people in small/remote and/or regional contexts in a multicultural environment and experience with the use of oral health software, preferably Titanium, will be well regarded.

To be considered, applicants must be eligible to obtain security clearance at baseline vetting level (must be an Australian citizen), obtain a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and hold a driver’s licence transferable to the Indian Ocean Territories. The successful candidate will also be subject to a pre-engagement health assessment.
