About Department

CGHS treats approximately 12,000 acute inpatients and 17,000 Emergency Department patients per year. It provides general surgical, medical, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, dentistry, endoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy and paediatric services with visiting sub-specialty services including urology, vascular, ENT, paediatric surgery, upper GI surgery and IVF. There is a Critical Care Unit that provides ventilation and haemofiltration. Surgical services are supported by both specialist and general practitioner anaesthetists.

About the Role

The Emergency Medicine Consultant will provide senior Medical Support, in conjunction with other medical officers, in Emergency Medicine at CGH. This will occur within the principles of care coordination, where patients/clients/residents have access to a highly coordinated health care and community support system.

Full time and Part time  positions  considered.

Duties

  • Provide expert medical care in all rural contexts
  • Provide primary care
  • Provide secondary medical care
  • Respond to medical emergencies
  • Apply a population health approach
  • Practise medicine within an ethical, intellectual and professional framework
  • Provide safe medical care while working in geographic, social and professional isolation

About You

  • Primary medical qualification registered or registrable with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (or assessment by the college that the position holder is suitable for the position) is a must for any application to be considered. 
  • A Police Record Check regarding any criminal record will be required prior to finalisation of the appointment no longer than three (3) years
  • A mandatory Working with Children Check will be required for this role.
  • Substantial proven experience as a consultant in emergency medicine within an acute care hospital-based. Skills and experience in emergency medicine
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS)
