Applicants must provide contact details or a written reference from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is willing to support their application.About UsApunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.About the OpportunityAs Rheumatic Heart Disease - Clinical Lead you will be responsible for the effective leadership of the prevention, management and coordination of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease care delivered by Apunipima. This position exhibits operational leadership that influences and progresses clinical care, policy, and collaboration through all levels of the health service. Leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a multi-strategy Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) project which aims to:reduce the incidence of Rheumatic Heart Disease, andimproves the management of Acute Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Health Disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Cape York Communities.Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases and AFP National Police Check will be conducted for the successful applicant.About YouTo be successful in this role you will have:Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (AHPRA) as a Registered NurseQualification in Child Health is highly desirableExperience developing and maintaining relationships with Aboriginaland Torres Strait Islander people, partner organisations and keystakeholdersExperience in service planning, implementing, and evaluating nursingservices.Experience in providing rheumatic heart disease care and education in diverse cultural environments to individuals and groups is highly desirableCritical thinking and reasoning skills, including advanced problem-solvingand expert clinical judgementAdvanced knowledge and application of contemporary Indigenousrheumatic heart disease care and clinical practice or the ability to quicklyacquireUnderstanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape YorkAbility to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customsCurrent Queensland Driver's LicenceWhy Apunipima?Apunipima is a great place to work, with opportunities to grow and develop and an environment of respect.
