We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Pharmacist - Haematology and Aseptic Services to join our Pharmacy Department on a 12 month fixed term basis at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 6BW, with a competitive salary on offer.The oncology/haematology service is based at the purpose-built Duchess of Devonshire Wing, consisting of 4 inpatient wards, a busy day-case/outpatient facility and a radiotherapy unit providing diagnosis and treatment for patients.

There are two pharmacies at The London Clinic, the one at the Duchess of Devonshire Wing provides aseptic chemotherapy reconstitution service for all patient receiving chemotherapy for cancer and non-cancerous conditions.

The second pharmacy, based at 20 Devonshire Place, provides medication for all non-oncology inpatients and outpatients based at The London Clinic. We strive to provide high quality, efficient patient-centred services.

Job Profile

As Lead Pharmacist in Haematology and Aseptic Services you will act as the haematology lead for the London Clinic pharmacy and manage clinical pharmacy services to all haematology areas as well as manage pharmacy technical services staff.

Job Type: 12 month fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week.

Shifts: Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £64,852 inclusive per annum, dependent of skills and experience.

Key Duties

  • Plan, deliver and coordinate a programme of continuous service improvements and audits relating to medicines optimisation in haematology areas
  • Work closely with other lead pharmacists to provide clinical pharmacy services to haematology ward areas in a consistent manner.
  • Share the management of the rotational clinical pharmacists at the Duchess of Devonshire Wing of The London Clinic.
  • Lead an effective clinical pharmacy service to all Haematology areas including SCT and ATMP
  • Develop, implement and monitor Intrathecal chemotherapy policies, training and practice as the intrathecal lead for the Clinic.
  • Provide support to nursing areas to ensure compliance with legislation and good clinical practice initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive post registration experience in clinical hospital pharmacy
  • Experience in haematology/oncology services
  • Leadership and supervisory experience
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
  • Post graduate Clinical Pharmacy qualification or experience equivalent to Diploma or Msc in Clinical Pharmacy
