About you: 

You are a qualified Registered Nurse, ideally with at least 5 years' experience in a renal setting. You demonstrate an advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice and advanced level of decision making in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and can undertake operational leadership.

Your opportunity: 

The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical leadership and clinical expertise relevant to the speciality of Renal Services.  The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Educator, and the wider Renal team to support the provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the speciality of Renal Services.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Senior Registered Nurse who is accountable at an advanced practice level for the coordination of clinical practice inclusive of high-level physical assessment skills, resource management, training of staff and leadership within the Yarrabah Assisted Care Dialysis Unit.

Your role: 

  • Provide effective and efficient management of service in collaboration with the Nursing Director, Integrated Medicine, clinical and non-clinical staff to facilitate the provision of quality evidence-based care.
  • Operate with a significant degree of autonomous clinical decision making in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Provide direct clinical care and advice in a defined practice area for client group with diverse and/or complex care requirements. Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in the understanding, application, analysis, and interpretation of a professional body of knowledge to provide sound advice and support to less experienced nurses/midwives. 
  • As an expert in the field, undertake supervision of nurses and Health Care Workers, assisting with ongoing development and education in area of speciality.
  • Model highly developed knowledge, skills, and behaviours, including problem identification and solution, analysis and interpretation of clinical data, and implementation of innovative and effective client care to achieve positive outcomes for client groups and individuals with diverse and/or complex care requirements.
