The Mental Health Acute Adolescent Inpatient Unit (Rosella) is a 6-bed ward that provides 24-hour acute mental health assessment and care to adolescents, generally aged between 13 and 17 years, in a safe, structured, highly supervised and supportive environment during an acute episode of mental illness.
The focus of care is on the stabilisation of acute symptoms, the provision of diagnostic formulation, and a range of recovery focussed treatments within a developmental framework. This recognises the need for safety and cultural sensitivity, with the minimum possible disruption to their family and educational, social and community networks.
The Registered Nurse, who is required to work within their Scope of Practice to implement principles of recovery orientated practice in a least restrictive environment, will conduct assessments and provide treatment for young people (and their carer networks) with severe and complex mental health problems as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), work with the MDT to ensure that care is collaborative and inclusive of consumers and their families/carers, demonstrate knowledge, skill and clinical competence in the assessment and delivery of contemporary health care to consumers presenting with complex mental and physical health care needs, as well as contributing positively to team culture and change processes.
Key responsibilities include:
Salary between $82,753 - $106,144 p.a. (f/t), or salary rates: $41.73 - $53.53 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) (Nurse Grade 5) (Permanent full time and part time positions available, hours negotiable).
