The Office of the Deputy Director-General are seeking a high performing and innovative Principal Advisor (Occupational Hygiene) to join the team on a permanent basis.

In the role of Principal Advisor (Occupational Hygiene) you will lead the occupational hygiene function including the provision of expert professional advice on legislative, scientific and technical issues and opportunities to achieve effective occupational hygiene management across IMD.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Develop, implement and manage an organisational hygiene monitoring program to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
• Provide direction and specialist input into the development of occupational health and hygiene programs which raise awareness of risks, including representation at internal / external forums.
• Lead a range of internal professional capability and maturity building activities for employees including the development and delivery of education and training on occupational health and hygiene programs for operational roles and teams.
• Lead and assist in the investigation of occupational health and hygiene related incidents including the preparation of complex, briefing notes and general correspondence.

Desirable qualifications
• A tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Science or Engineering that is recognised by the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
• Holding, or eligibility to quickly obtain, Full Membership of the AIOH or equivalent.
• Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) status with AIOH or equivalent.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
