THE CLIENT
Our client is a part of the Iconic Snowy Hydro 2.0 project in Cooma. They are a leading heavy mechanical engineering, services and contracting business operating throughout Australia and New Zealand in major capital cities and regional locations. They perform an integral role in the development of ANZ infrastructure across renewable energy, transport and power markets.
THE ROLE
The Site HSE Advisor assists in the development, implementation, and promotion of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment for the electrical and mechanical scope at the Snowy construction site, under consideration of relevant regulations, contract requirements, construction schedule and budgetary targets of the project.

  • Base Salary $130,000 - $150,000 (Depending on Experience) PLUS Super PLUS 10% Bonus PLUS 20% Site Uplift 
  • MUST Have Site based HSE experience in Heavy construction Projects
  • Work Location - Snowy Hydro site in Cooma - 14 / 7 Roster

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement, monitor, and review management plans, procedures, work instructions, safe work method statements, forms, registers, and training packages;
  • Contribute to the qualitative and quantitative risk management process with specific experience or focus on risk treatment/control implementation;
  • Conduct on-site assessments, inspections, and audits to identify and eliminate or control hazards;
  • Attend safety meetings to discuss any provisions required for safe delivery, construction, and commissioning of company components;
  • General HSE admin, record keeping, and reporting, as well as building and maintaining excellent relationships with all stakeholders including client, Safe Work, OFSC, unions, subcontractors, etc.
  • Participate in forward planning to ensure HSE tasks are prepared in advance (e.g. confined space assessment, scaffold installation, chemicals use, PPE, ventilation, heavy lifts etc.), and identify bottlenecks proactively and provide solutions;
  • Drive and track closure of HSE preventive and corrective actions in an efficient and timely manner;
ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary education in Work Health and Safety (Diploma level minimum);
  • Previous demonstrated experience in a HSE SITE delivery position with experience in HEAVY construction projects such as power plant construction projects, oil and gas sector or tunnelling experience would be highly regarded;
  • Possess a thorough understanding of NSW and Federal regulations and Standards, including Workplace Relations Management, and Heavy Vehicles National Law Chain of Responsibility;
  • Excellent safety and health track record in programs and processes.

PROJECT INFORMATION
Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market.
