Mount Isa Hospital's Emergency Department is a well-equipped rural ED accredited with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for training in Emergency Medicine and with the Australian College for Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) for Advanced Skills and Rural and Remote training.

You will work in Emergency as a Senior Medical Officer or Staff Specialist, providing Emergency Care to patients and telehealth support and advice for the remote locations of the North West Hospital and Health Service.

Are you the right person for the role?

  • FACEM, FRACGP + FARGP, FACRRM preferred
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Possession of accredited / advanced skills in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, O&G, Remote Medicine or A&TSI Health.

Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences, evidence of these will be required prior to appointment.

Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful candidate, including criminal history checks.

VPD risk roles may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Tuberculosis.

A 6-month period of probation may apply.

What's on offer?

Permanent full and part-time role exists for 80 and 40 hours p.f. Flexible rosters negotiable including fly-in/fly-out options.

Competitive pro rata approximate remuneration packages available comprising:

  • Base salary range between $6776.80 and $9924.00 p.f. (f/t) or $84.71 and $124.05 p.h. (p/t) (L13-L27)
  • 5 weeks Annual Recreational Leave accumulation with additional 17.5% loading when taken
  • Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 35%-50% base annual salary
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary
  • Motor vehicle allowance
  • Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a.
  • Inaccessibility allowance of $17,250 p.a.
  • Emergency Department specialist allowance (dependant upon level of appointment) of 25% base annual salary
