Role responsibilities

  • Providing a quantitative respiratory fit testing service to all relevant staff; ensuring such staff are appropriately fitted to P2/N95 respirators which provide full protection from respiratory hazards during the course of their work.
  • Face to face communication with unit managers to assist with the release staff for fit testing.
  • Communication with unit managers or facility managers to confirm planned offsite clinics.
  • Prepare, clean and maintain fit testing equipment and initiate repair of malfunctions or routine servicing.
  • Work efficiently at performing accurate fit testing.
  • Provide instructions and demonstrations to staff regarding the correct application of N95 masks.
  • Conducting offsite fit testing clinics in high-risk units and rural facilities. This may include overnight travel to Hughenden and Richmond multipurpose health facilities.
  • Conducting fit testing clinics in high-risk units across all areas of THHS.
  • Data entry into designated fit testing software.
  • Ensuring staff members have a record of their successful fit test and N95 mask.

Employment Term

  • Fixed Term Temporary full-time, up to 19/01/2025

Role requirements

  • Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate.  Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate. 
  • Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids are required to provide evidence of vaccinations or proof that they are not susceptible (due to prior exposure to the disease and therefore have natural immunity) to the following VPD's Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and Pertussis (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis containing vaccine) according to the Queensland Health Policy.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with the all levels of staff across the HHS.
  • Ability to work as an effective member within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
  • Well developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
