Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

The Sunshine Coast Public Health Unit consists of a diverse multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing, environmental health officers, epidemiology, data officers and administration. The Public Health Unit is engaged in various functions, encompassing communicable disease control, immunisation, surveillance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high level clinical expertise, knowledge and problem-solving skills to research and deliver complex environmental health services, across multiple clinical areas and across the health service district, to identify evidence-based options and recommend appropriate interventions and enforcement strategies.
  • Exercise independent judgement and high-level evidentiary skills and experience to undertake complex investigations under relevant public health legislation, with infrequent clinical supervision.
  • Provide non-routine clinical advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare comprehensive reports and submissions on environmental health issues to management.

Remuneration value up to $152,776 p.a., comprising salary between $124,435 - $133,901 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4).
