To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist to support our Respiratory Therapy department at Mount Sinai Hospital.

If you have excellent clinical skills and want to grow clinically and professionally, this is the department for you! You will work across our inpatient medical/surgical units, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Operating Room (OR), and Emergency Department (ED). You will also be an integral interprofessional member in the patient care areas and a key member of our rapid response team.
In the ICU, Respiratory Therapy is responsible for difficult airway management, mechanical ventilation (non invasive conventional, high frequency oscillation, using lung protective strategies), nitric oxide /specialty gas therapies, patient transport, open bedside tracheostomy assistance, bronchoscopy assistance, radial arterial line insertion, hemodynamic monitoring, resuscitation and intubation/extubation.
In the NICU, Respiratory Therapy is responsible for airway management, intubation/extubation, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation (conventional, high frequency oscillation, jet ventilation, and non-invasive), nitric oxide delivery, surfactant instillation, arterial punctures, arterial line insertion, resuscitation, patient transport, research and resident teaching. Core NICU RRT's are also assigned to the Case room 24 hours per day and work with Neonatology, Anaesthesia and Nursing to provide care to the newborn and mother.
In the OR, Room Respiratory Therapy team is responsible for assisting the Anesthesiologists. This comprehensive role includes all hemodynamic monitoring, checking and administering blood/blood products, peripheral line insertion (arterial and venous), intubations/extubations, topicalizing upper airway, difficult airways, post-operative ventilation, and teaching.
Responsibilities in the ED include initiation of the asthma protocol, airway management and ventilation, patient transport and assistance with procedural sedation. On the medical/surgical wards, RRT’s carry a Critical Care Response Team pager and are integral member of the Rapid Response team.
Other responsibilities include non-invasive ventilation in our surgical step down unit, blood gases, arterial line insertion and monitoring as well as patient education, spirometry, home oxygen assessment, student education, research and mentorship.
