Salary NS11 £39,648 - £41,223 per annum (Salary stated is inclusive of a market supplement of £3000 pro rata per annum which is in place until 28 February 2026.)

We are now recruiting a Compliance Surveyor to join our Housing Maintenance and Asset Management team. We manage housing stock which comprises of low/medium rise flats, houses, and bungalows. The successful candidate will join a small and friendly dedicated team managing all aspects of building compliance and safety.

In this role, you will provide specialist knowledge to ensure the statutory and regulatory compliance of the Councils domestic assets and to ensure that the Council consistently fulfils its duty of care towards its tenants and other customers. The focus of the role is on Fire Safety and Asbestos management however, candidates with experience in one of these areas are encouraged to apply as training can be provided in relation to the other element of the role.

The key areas of focus for the role will be:

  • Ensuring that the Councils legislative and regulatory requirements are continually met in relation to asbestos management and fire safety, and to support the team with other specialist technical functions.
  • Appointment and contract management of special contractors.
  • Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of compliance and safety strategies which meet customer expectations, evolving legislation, and best practice.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering compliance safety. Experience in fire safety and / or asbestos safety is essential but training can be provided if experience is in one area only. You will also have demonstrable experience of successful contract management, will be qualified at Level 4 or above in a relevant field and will bring excellent organisation and communication skills, a tactful and diplomatic approach, great customer service, and the ability to interpret and apply legislation.
