The role

Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance, this role will provide a high-level of strategic advice with the focus on system performance in a large complex health environment. This position will be responsible for enhancing business intelligence and performance reporting systems ensuring the provision of accurate and performance information. 

As Senior Director, you will participate in a critical role that ensures purchasing decisions, and the subsequent delivery of service agreements are driven by robust, high quality performance data and evidence. Leading effective sector-wide data performance management mechanisms and identifies and advises on current and future strategic challenges and opportunities for system performance improvements with respect to healthcare purchasing decisions will be a key focus.

The successful person
This role requires an experience senior executive who has demonstrated ability in analysing and understanding public health system performance. The successful candidate will be committed and experience leader to lead, act, inspire and focus strategically in order to:

  • Perform a strategic leadership role by setting performance expectation and data strategy requirements.
  • Monitor, manage and implement frameworks enabling the performance of statewide services align to state and federal requirements.
  • Provide strategic oversight for the provision of accurate, validated and fit for purpose performance information to drive service improvements.

About the Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance Division
The Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) Division purchases public health and social services from service providers to optimise health gains, reduce inequalities, and maximise the health system's efficiency and effectiveness. HPSP ensures health funding is used effectively to meet government priorities and achieve performance objectives outlined in agreements and contracts arising from purchasing decisions. As part of the commissioning role, the Division has responsibility for investing nearly $18 billion on behalf of the State and managing community services contracts to the value of approximately $280 million.
